Home from a Six-Game Road Trip

By Sycely Wheeles

The Seawolves have wrapped up the season’s longest road trip so far, returning home for the first time since November 11th. The team’s conquest included facing four New England-based universities, beginning with Bentley University, moving on to Stonehill College, Brown University and ending at the College of the Holy Cross.

Forward Dylan Contreras

“It is a hectic schedule, definitely the hardest one to have in college hockey this year,” said forward Dylan Contreras, who scored against both Brown and Holy Cross. “I’m glad our team as a whole was able to contribute not just by scoring goals, but plays leading up to it.”

Contreras was one of many players who added to the goal tally along the way, and one of several who recorded his first points of the season.

Goalie Tyler Krivtsov

As for defensive measures, the team was also able to show up and show out. Goaltender Tyler Krivstov led the team to its first shutout win since February 2024, earning a 4-0 victory over the Stonehill Skyhawks.

“He’s been a huge benefactor for us when he’s in net,” said Contreras, regarding Krivstov. “With him performing the way he is, it gives our team an energy boost to try and do our best as well.”

While playing on the road can be exhausting at times, the time spent making connections with teammates is highly valued by the team.

“It is hard on your body and mental state, and doing it with your brothers makes it a lot easier,” said forward Ryan Johnson.

The opportunity for team building while on the road has contributed to the group’s cohesiveness, a quality that is apparent on the ice. Seawolf fans can expect to see a refined team returning to their home ice in the upcoming series against Stonehill. The matchup on Friday, Dec 5, will be their first home game since facing Bemidji State earlier this fall.

“Our team is a completely different team than we saw against Bemidji State,” Johnson said. “We are much more disciplined and connected, which leads to us putting the puck in the back of the net more often.”

“From Bemidji to now, our team has taken such a big step,” said freshman forward Tye Spencer. “Learning to play with each other and connecting as a group has brought us close together not only in person but on the ice.”
