A message from Seawolf Hockey Alliance President Kathie Bethard.
Dear Seawolf Hockey Supporters,
I’ve been around Seawolf Hockey long enough to know when there’s something special building. There’s a renewed energy surrounding Seawolf Hockey and it truly feels like the beginning of a new chapter.
We have a new head coach and assistant coaches with Alaskan ties, and a new group of players wearing the green and gold who are joining our 11 returners from last season. There are new faces and new energy, but the same tradition and pride that have always made Seawolf Hockey special.
With the support of UAA’s new Athletic Director Michael Bazemore, Head Coach Eric Rud and his staff have been working to build a team that represents what Seawolf Hockey is all about: hard work, pride, determination and being a part of something bigger than yourself.
I believe we should have high expectations for the program. We want to compete, we want to grow and we want Seawolf Hockey to become everything we know it can be.
None of this happens without you. Our supporters, alumni, parents, businesses, community partners and fans have continued to stand behind Seawolf Hockey through some very challenging years. You have purchased tickets, sponsored games, donated, volunteered, brought your families to the rink and, most importantly, continued to believe in this program.
We have a big year ahead. Come to the games. Bring your family and friends. Wear your green and gold. Introduce someone new to Seawolf Hockey. Let our players see and hear the community behind them.
There is important work ahead, too, as we continue our efforts toward a permanent home for Seawolf Hockey at a new UAA Community Ice Complex. I believe strongly in what a facility like this could mean not only for Seawolf Hockey, but for our community. If we want to build a strong, vibrant Division I program for the long term, we need to keep thinking big about its future.
For now, though, it is time to drop the puck!
On behalf of the Seawolf Hockey Alliance, thank you for being part of this family and for continuing to believe in Seawolf Hockey. I hope to see you at the rink throughout the season and I hope you’ll bring a few more Seawolf fans with you.
Go Seawolves!
Kathie Bethard
