A pivotal hire for the program, Coach Rud joins the Seawolves with more than 25 years of coaching experience and success across all levels of hockey, most recently at St. Cloud State. His leadership and recruiting track record will raise the standard for UAA Hockey.
He is known for wasting little time creating programs with winning cultures and developing players that compete right away. Widely regarded as a strong program builder, Rud has coached and developed players across the NCAA, USHL and USA Hockey pathways.
“Coach Rud has a sharp hockey mind and a strong reputation,” said Kathie Bethard, president of Seawolf 5th Line. “There’s a lot of work to do and I’m eager to welcome him to lead the next chapter of UAA Hockey.”
A prolific recruiter throughout his coaching career, Coach Rud was instrumental in the signing of 2013 Hobey Baker winner Drew LeBlanc, and Hobey Baker finalists Ryan Lasch and Nic Dowd, as well as many all-conference honorees.
With the UAA roster in place, Coach Rud will focus on preparing the team for a strong and competitive season, and positioning UAA Hockey for long-term success. Fans are encouraged to consider supporting Coach Rud in these efforts by making a gift to the Seawolf 5th Line.
